Ruhi classes have resumed as of last week, with George as one of our tutors for Book One, Reflections on the Life of the Spirit. He's just jumpin' for joy! Pictured here are Myong, Renee, and Al. George has given them a little gift, a book-marker with quotes from the writing of the Baha'i Faith.
We served tea, then George asked, "What needs to be in place to make our class special?" Replies: Sharing. Different points of view. Time to process (go slow). Time for review and questions.
There are many benefits to the Ruhi program, which is intended to answer the question "How can the betterment of the world be accomplished?" Unity of thought and intention after a period of consultation is what ultimately shapes a strong, cohesive spirit, or core of spiritual energy. We see this actually develop throughout the process of the Ruhi sequences. By the end of the courses we feel a greater sense of community. We have come to really know one another. Myong, Renee and Al have just become acquainted with the Baha'is. They said, at the end of the evening, "Lets do a pot-luck one of these days!" That's the spirit!

I loved studying Book 1. I have a similar bookmark of the quotes from Book 1 hanging on my refridgerator so I can read them each day.
We went through the book very slowly and it took our group from August to December to do the whole thing. Our class had three (Bob and me and another gentelman) participants who were brand new to Baha'i and Ruhi so our pace was definitely slower because we had so many questions along the way.
I am looking forward to finding another Ruhi circle here in Kansas once we are finished settling in and have a better routine in place.
Jess, I like taking Ruhi classes very slow, too, although I've been a Baha'i for a long time and done a lot of reading. It has everything to do with how I process information on so many different levels. Much like a circuitous route in a canoe. I have to 'go here and there with my thoughts', rather than a straight shot.
I hope you find some classes Jess...it is a great way to meet some real nice people.
When you have three such fine "seekers" as Myong, Renee, and Al participating in your Ruhi 1 class, you can't help but imagine the Faith expanding at a geometric rate with each new believer operating on the firm footing of the knowledge of God through their participation.
As Mr Rogers would say..
I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you.
I hope that you're as proud as
I am proud of you.
I'm proud of you.
I hope that you are proud
And that you're
Learning how important you are,
How important each person you see can be.
Discovering each one's specialty
Is the most important learning.
I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you.
I hope that you're as proud as
I am proud of you.
I'm proud of you.
I hope that you are proud of you, too!
Love you!
Deb
