Bushcraft Dinner - Firepit - Baking Naan on Inverted Wok

In the evenings I've been watching how to prepare food over fire, and learned that naan can be baked over an inverted wok, over charcoal.

So, I tried it, making the dough, baking it, and preparing side-dishes for dinner - baked beans, rice and lentils, cubed steak and veggies from the garden, and Pillsbury cinnamon rolls which are baked and then frosted.

The first step is to organize all the items for cooking, including spices,  and setting them out on a tray.

Then forming the naan into individual shapes and rolling them out.

I was impressed how easily a wok lends itself to flatbread baking - they turned out wonderful.

We enjoyed our meal, lingering over tea and the campfire - all in our backyard.

Fried Kale and Havarti Cheese Sandwich

With tomatoes, onion, and brown mustard.

Salmon Chowder with Garden Veggies

Friends gave us smoked salmon heads which make a good soup.  I added remnants of a lamb leg bone for the marrow and broth.  Added veggies from the garden, beans, and peri peri spice.

Roasted Kabocha Squash Seeds

Fried Kabocha Squash

Baked squash slices were dipped in home-made orange syrup, sprinkled with crushed Asian garlic, piri, cinnamon, and sesame seeds, then fried.

French Bread, With Pumpkin Seeds Inside

This exquisite little loaf of bread is intended for Dutch Oven baking, over charcoals or a campfire.  I practiced it at home, trial run, to experiment with the recipe before a 10-day camping trip.  It turned out great, using a round coffee filter on the bottom of the baking pan.  Easy to remove, that way.
