Photoshop and U-Tube
We've been exploring farms in Switzerland on U-Tube, amazed at the beauty of the cattle and the rigorous farming methods up in the Alps. As we were watching I pressed the Screen Saver and uploaded the image into Picasa, then photoshopped it. It's almost like creating one's own drawing.
Seely Lake Watershed Park
This 48-acre natural watershed area includes a 1.3 mile walking trail that features young red alder saplings, black cottonwoods, and many red, white and black berries. Small marshes appear suddenly amidst the brush and in the winter more of the pond is visible. The wetlands are part of the Chambers-Clover Creek watershed system, providing habitat for marsh birds, waterfowl, and small mammals. The land absorbs runoff, offering a buffer against area flooding, and filters contaminants that enter the area. The farthest part of the trail is flooded in winter.
Oak Tree Park - Tacoma
Oak Tree Park is a pilot project of the Green Tacoma Partnership, a collaborative effort to inventory and assess Tacoma's green spaces and develop a plan for their protection and restoration. The Green Tacoma Partnership is coordinated by Tahoma Audubon and Forterra. The woodlands are special ecosystems that established themselves on gravelly soil left behind by glaciers 15,000 years ago. Garry oak woodlands are Priority Habitat since many rare species rely on this ecosystem to survive.
